Celebrating Diwali away from home

Diwali , the biggest and the brightest of the Hindu festivals is finally here! For many, the festivities which began almost a month ago have illuminated homes with brilliance and dazzled all with joy.

Exotic food, sweets and savouries have been prepared for the occasion in large quantities to be shared with families,neighbours and friends for the start of a brand new year.

But but but this time it’s little different for me becoz i’m unable to go back home and celebrate with my family, friends & neighbours.

यहाँ ‘Diwali Prayers’ हैं पर वहाँ जैसा मग्न होकर ‘लक्ष्मी पूजन’ करने का सुख नहीं, यहाँ ‘Chocolates & Cookies’ हैं पर ‘बेसन के लड्डू और गुजिया’ के बिन वोह बात नहीं, यहाँ ‘blinking LED lamps’ है पर दीपों की अवली से निकलती टिमटिमाती रौशनी नहीं, यहाँ ‘cracker show’ है पर वहाँ जैसा ‘रॉकेट,अनार और सुतली बम’ छोड़ने का मज़ा नहीं, यहाँ कुछ ‘planned diwali get togethers’ तो है पर वहाँ जैसा ‘ग़दर माहोल’ नहीं — Sapan

Meditation is a mental discipline by which one attempts to get beyond the reflexive, “thinking” mind into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness.

While a meditative state is the natural outcome of yoga and the spiritual benefit of meditation is supreme bliss or enlightenment, these words are unlikely to be understood by many.

However, progress towards meditation and meditative techniques have several benefits at the gross body or material level:

Improvement of body luster and general health-When your mind focuses on a particular part of the body, the blood flow to that part increases and cells receive more oxygen and other nutrients in abundance.

Meditation strengthens the mind, it comes under control and is able to provide effective guidance to the physical body to effectively execute all its projects.

The yoga and meditation techniques are being implemented in management of life threatening diseases; in transformation of molecular and genetic structure; in reversal of mental illnesses, in accelerated learning programs, in perceptions and communications beyond the physical, in solving problems and atomic and nuclear physics; in gaining better ecological understanding; in management of lifestyle and future world problems. Some benefits of meditation are:

It lowers oxygen consumption.

It decreases respiratory rate

It increases blood flow and slows the heart rate.

Increases exercise tolerance in heart patients.

Leads to a deeper level of relaxation.

Good for people with high blood pressure as it brings the B.P. to normal.

Builds self-confidence.

It increases serotonin production which influences mood and behaviour. Low levels of serotonin are associated with depression, obesity, insomnia and headaches.

Sometimes we become so consumed by our daily business that we forget to take a look at the larger picture of who we are &
where we are headed in life.We go through the actions of work,family,friends, and chores, and it takes an extraordinary
event, such as a relationship break-up,life-threatning illness, the dedth of a loved one,or a major career change, to
focus our attention on the meaning in our lives.When we are faced with something wrong,we review what we have done,think
about what we might have done ,and wonder what it all means.We become clear on what it is we desire most.We learn who we
are and what we truly value.
